LAHORE: Momentum Logistics has already managed the clearance of customs, transportation, loading, and unloading of 112 electric buses for the Punjab government’s Green Public Transport project, delivering each of the buses to 12 cities in the state. The Punjab electric buses logistics project, carried out in collaboration with Heavy Industries Taxila, is one of the most challenging deliveries of electric vehicles to multiple cities arranged by any Pakistani logistics company till date.
The project required the parallel handling of customs clearance at the port of entry, movement through the roads of Punjab to reach the cities, as well as loading and unloading at 12 different destinations, all within the constraints of time sensitivity, and with no leeway in damaging the expensive electric buses.
The transportation of 112 electric buses to 12 cities is no ordinary logistics job involving the movement of freight. Every electric bus is a high-value and oversized asset that requires dedicated logistics equipment, specialized routing procedures for oversize transport, and dedicated logistical coordination at the receiving end in each individual city.
HIT Collaboration Defence Industry Know-how Combined with Logistics Experience
The expertise of HIT was related to manufacturing and engineering capabilities of manufacturing and assembling of heavy vehicles, whereas the logistics strength of Momentum was about the commercial logistics network from the port to the city. It clearly shows that the industrial and logistical capabilities of Pakistan are able to undertake a national-level transportation project to the required standard.
12 Cities, 1 Operation
Logistics deliveries of the Punjab electric buses to 12 cities in Punjab entailed the type of multi-location coordination of operations that challenges logistics capabilities more than single-destination deliveries. The logistics involved unique requirements for each of the 12 cities in terms of delivery needs, local infrastructure, and reception logistics.
Consistently ensuring safety and quality throughout all 12 locations, while dealing with the processes of customs clearance preceding the entire logistics process, is the logistical feat that Momentum is proud of accomplishing in the programme.
This project illustrated how adept the group was in handling a complicated logistics operation on a national level with accuracy, speed, and an unyielding commitment to safety and quality – from fast customs clearance to delivery.
Punjab’s Green Transport Movement Progressing
Punjab’s logistics for electric buses will see the addition of 112 emission-free buses to Punjab’s public transport network in twelve different cities, which marks the first step toward extending Punjab’s electric bus fleet from Lahore, where its green transport program has been making the biggest impact, to other cities within Punjab’s boundaries.
Electric buses have been introduced by Punjab, which claims that Punjab is the number one province in Pakistan in terms of electric public transportation. Every single addition of an electric bus contributes to Punjab’s efforts of reducing pollution and decreasing dependency on imported fuel for transport vehicles.
